Venture into the spiritual land of Chamba

Chamba, a state in the Northern India, enjoys the status of having age old records of historical events, dating back to circa 500 A.D. The monuments built by numerous rulers at different times in the state’s life, stand tall welcoming all those who visit this hilly natural abode.

This district is known in the country and world over as Lord Shiva’s land and includes the magnificent tourist places like- Dalhousie, Chamba Town, Khajjar, Pangi and Bharamour. Anyone who is looking for a relaxing vacation can plan a trip to the Chamba district and drown in the beauty it beholds.

One of the major tourist attractions are the lakes present in the state, of which there are five.

The state of Chamba also has many wildlife sanctuaries that are a major attraction for nature lovers and the general tourists. Innumerable local and exotic species of flora and fauna can be witnessed at these cordoned off areas. One can also embark upon a jungle safari with the help of trained staff and the trails they have put down.

The state enjoys a flexible and comfortable climate and has well- defined seasons. Winters last for three months- from December till February with a cool and dry weather in March and April. Before monsoon entering in June end, the climate here rises at a rapid rate. The monsoon continues till mid- September and is characterized by humid and misty weather. The winter then breaks in starting from a cold and dry spell in October and November and then having temperature falling even to zero degrees Celsius.

Approach: Chamba is approximately 52 kms from Dalhousie. The distance is reduced by 6 kms. via Upper Barkota and Khajjiar road. Bus and taxi service is available from Chamba to Pathankot, Delhi, Dharamsala, Shimla, Chandigarh, Jammu and most of the Punjab cities along the National highway. Accessing Chamba is convenient since it is situated close to many major northern cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, etc. and all these cities provide transportation option to the tourists who wish to visit Chamba. It is also well- connected by National Highways and complementing it with bus and taxis.
